Why I work at Legal Aid Society of San Bernardino

My name is Elizabeth Moreno, and the reason I work at Legal Aid Society of San Bernardino is because I have a passion to help people. Legal Aid gives me an opportunity to transform a life on a daily basis, which in return also impacts my life as well. We serve a community that is disadvantaged without the means to take care of their legal matters. This gives me great joy to be able to assist our community and give clients peace of mind during an emotional time in their lives.

 Professional Background:

I have a professional background in cosmetology; I have a barbering license; a Business Office Administration Certificate and 40 Hour Domestic Violence Advocacy Training Certificate. I also worked for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage as a credit counselor, loan processor and mortgage specialist. I can read and write Spanish fluently.  I was very blessed to have met an amazing individual Josefina Valdez who worked for Legal Aid of San Bernardino as an attorney at the time and told her I volunteered for the non-profit organization in 1998. I shared with her how much I love to help people and the passion I have for law.  In 2012 I asked Josefina if I could volunteer and she set me up for interview. I was accepted and I started right away volunteering Monday through Friday, 8 hours a day. I did that for 2 ½ years and later was hired on part time and eventually as a full time employee.

I really love

I love to attend bible study, sing, and crafts, spend time with my fiancé, 84 year old mother, children, family and friends. I also love to be involved with church functions.
