Why I work at Legal Aid Society of San Bernardino:
Because I want to utilize my education to help those in need. I believe that every person regardless of their ethnicity, religious affiliation, citizenship, economic or social status, should have access to legal representation and the opportunity to learn about their legal rights. It is an incredibly rewarding experience to assist and empower our clients to exercise their legal rights and ultimately obtain the resolution they seek. As an immigrant & native Spanish-speaker I can relate to and understand the unique struggles many of our clients face. I take great pride in knowing that our services are making a significant social impact by addressing the pressing social justice issues of our San Bernardino County residents.
I graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in Political Science and Rhetoric. Later I obtained my J.D. from Trinity Law School in Santa Ana, California. While in law school I interned and was shortly thereafter employed as a Law Clerk at a Bankruptcy Law Office where I gained valuable experience in debt settlement negotiations. As a recent law school graduate I interned for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office at the Compton VIP Division and Major Crimes Division in Downtown LA. During my time with the DA’s Office I assisted Deputy District Attorneys in the prosecution of rape and murder cases. In addition to my legal background, I have six years of experience in the Education field having worked as a Substitute Teacher for the Montebello and Long Beach Unified School Districts.
I really love:
To travel, I have been to over 13 countries! Spending time with my family and friends; going dancing, especially Salsa Dancing; weekend road trips to Las Vegas, San Diego, & Northern California and listening to music while working on a jigsaw puzzle.
